Myself and Leslie are taking a vacation the first week of may and heading down to London, KY for the week.  I had planned on doing some hunting and fishing throughout the week, and still do, but my plans were changed a little after some news I received last week.

Now, I was planning on going fishing with my Uncle Garry.  He has a nice boat, and a truck to pull it with.  Well…HAD a truck to pull it with.  Turns out, he was out turkey hunting a couple days ago, and when he came out of the woods his truck was gone.  He found the ignition where they had puched it out, and that was it.  Luckily there was somebody hunting close to him that let him use his cell phone, or he would have had a long walk to make!! Maybe it’s just me, but you gotta be pretty stupid to steal somebody’s vehicle when they are probably within a mile radius and you know they have a gun!  I’d say whoever stole his truck is lucky himself or another hunter didn’t catch them in the act and spray a little lead in their direction.

My recent absence in the online world has been due to the recent surge of good games to play. I’ve been fading away from video games lately, and hadn’t had a game that really captivated me. That is, until three games were released. The first was Call of Duty 2. This was the game that started getting me back into the gaming world. Then came Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth II. This is an excellent game that is even more fun to play over a lan with friends. Next came Kingdom Hearts II. Man, does this game have me hooked. It was a little slow at first, but now I don’t want to stop playing it. I’m really glad to see some quality games come out. Hopefully, developers won’t get away from the gameplay only to appease the graphics on the next-gen platforms. That would be disappointing, especially with my surge back into gaming.

Well, the Reds are looking decent. Their offense is unbelievable. Man, can they put runs on the board. Their starting pitching, amazingly, has been pretty decent. Now comes the problem areas…defense and the bullpen. The defense will get better as the season goes on. I think most of it has been the jitters with new people and a new owner putting pressure on them to perform. The bullpen, however, has flat out stunk. If Cincinnati wants to be a contender this year, something has to be done about the bulllpen. Don’t get me wrong, they have some talent there. David Weathers is doing an excellent job so far as closer. He had the one bad game, but that’s just because he isn’t used to pitching three days in a row. But the other people…something’s gotta give!! Other than the bullpen, I can only think of one thing I would do differently. That is, move Austin Kearns lower in the batting lineup. He’s been hitting 7th, and I think he should be hitting 5th behind Griffey and Dunn. He is a .300+ hitter who will hit 35-40 hr’s per year (yes, you can quote me on that!!). Him hitting 7th is waisting his talent. He gets on base, only to have the people behind him get out. Anyway, I’m excited to see where this team is headed. It will be an interesting year, and the Reds are just going to get better!

Ok, I really need to get outside and do something.  I’ve not been getting out and doing stuff, and it’s starting to get to me.  I don’t mean like going to a movie or out to eat, but getting outdoors and doing stuff I really enjoy.  I can’t remember the last time I went fishing, or even played a game of tennis or basketball.  It’s been well over a year for playing any sports, and even then it was just once or twice.  I’m gonna be running with Chris, so that’s a start.  I would really like to go fishing, but I don’t know of any places in Northern Kentucky.  If anybody knows of a place, then please let me know.  I’m really looking for a place like a stream or river where there would be smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, or catfish.  If you know of any places to go hunting, or have friends or family that would let me hunt on their land…let me know about that, too.  Or, if you want to get together and play a game of tennis, round of golf, or anything else outdoors…just say the word.
