I would say the vast majority of people that come to my site know that I have Type 1, or Juvenile, Diabetes.  I have taken injections since I was 7-years old, and am currently on an insulin pump.  Actually, before I went to the insulin pump, I was up to 6 injections a day.  I try my best to take good care of myself, because I want to be around for my family as long as possible.  But, in the near future, there may no longer be a need for me to test my blood-sugar levels.  I may not have to wear an insulin pump.  I may be able to eat the donuts that someone brings to work on their birthday.  Why?  Because scientists have made so many advancements in finding a cure for diabetes that it has become something that many people, including myself, feel is attainable in the near future.

I posted a while back about the adult stem-cells that scientists at the UofL found.  Now, there has been another breakthrough.  Scientists have been able to reverse diabetes in mice.  Actually, there have been even more breakthroughs than that.  If you want to know about them all, then go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and check out the research section.

Leslie and I went yesterday for a checkup on the baby. We got to hear the heartbeat!! As Leslie said on her blog, the heartbeat sounded like a “whirr”. The baby didn’t like being poked, because it moved away from the monitor after a few seconds.  I can’t wait until we actually get to “see” the baby!

I just bought a new toy called Disc Stakka. Let me tell you, this thing is cool. It is an automated disc storing unit for your PC. It can hold up to 100 discs at a time. You just program what a disc is when you insert it, and you can quickly find it when you need it. You can also stack up to five units to create a tower. So far, I am only using it for the discs that I use the most. I’ve put around 50 discs into it already. Looking at my desk right now, there are no discs laying about. This is the first time in a long time I can say that without lying. If you have a lot of discs laying about or you have a hard time finding a disc when you need it, then this is the thing for you!!

I’ve been saying for a long time now that I’m gonna start running again. I’ve probably been saying it for well over a year, and it hasn’t happened. I ran cross-country and track in high school, but haven’t done much since. Luckily, Chris wants to start running as well. Now that he is commited to doing it, I have someone to run with, and we have both posted it on our websites, it’s time to start running!! We’re going to get in shape and run a few 5k races. It’ll be fun. Anyone else want to join us?

I just stumbled upon a cool video clip from CNN . A satellite image shows something on the side of Mt. Ararat that could possibly be Noah’s Ark. What I think is neat, is when they display the image next to a drawing from the 1600′s. Check it out:

Since I have nothing else to talk about, I’ll mention the Red’s newest trade. Yep, Wily Mo Pena for Bronson Arroyo. I hate to see Wily Mo get traded because of his potential, but I do think it was a smart trade. At least this time they get a solid pitcher who is used to throwing a whole season!! Plus they got a bunch of cash in the trade as well. And according to the media, everybody (in the clubhouse) seemed to be ok with this trade…even Pena himself. The new owner said he was going to stir things up, and so far he has been true to his word. If nothing else, this season should be interesting. I think they’ll do better than they have in the past few years. Hopefully Griffey will continue playing the way he did for Team USA. Maybe they’ll follow the Bengals lead and turn things around. We’ll see!

I’m mad. You’re mad. We’re all mad here! C’mon, it’s March Madness baby. Time for the NCAA Tournament. As always, I’ve filled out my bracket. I’m hoping this will be my breakout year. I usually pick Kentucky to win it all, but I thought it was pretty pointless this year (thanks Tubby!!). I had to pull for an SEC team to win it all, so I picked Florida. I think they have a legitamite shot at winning it this year. So, heres my bracket:

Answers in Genesis now have a video on demand section from the Answers with Ken Ham series. This is awesome. I’ve had many conversations with people about a literal Genesis and how I am a young earth creationist. I know I have several friends that don’t believe everything in the Bible is literal, or believe in evolution. I have posted on my website before about my views, so I won’t go into a long post about it. Anyway, I ask anyone who comes to my site to go view these videos. As of now they only have one up, but it’s a good one. Go watch it, and tell me what you think. By the way, it’s about a 16 minute clip, but it’s well worth it.

Well, Tubby is at it again. He’s really into setting records at Kentucky. Unfortunately, they are the records we don’t want to see set. Today’s loss against Florida makes the first time in history Kentucky has lost four straight games to Florida. He’ll also tie the record this year for the longest drought between final four appearances for Kentucky, which is 8 years. This is also the first time that I can remember that they finished their season unrated. I think you have to go all the way back to 1989 to see the last time Kentucky was unrated (I could be wrong on that, but I think that’s correct). People say that UK fans are too harsh and spoiled. Well, with the exception of Eddie Sutton (we won’t go there), every other coach has been able to uphold the Kentucky tradition. It’s time to go Tubby, it’s time to go!!

New flag of Independence, KY

The City of Independence has a new flag. They have actually had it since early February, but I just now found out about it. I think it’s pretty cool.
