Sorry I haven’t been posting on a regular basis. It seems now that we have a house, there just isn’t enough hours in the day to get everything done! Anyway, today was my first day at my new position. It’s really weird being on a salary and not having to punch a clock everytime I turn around. It was also weird being within walking distance of a ton of places to eat lunch. They set me up with my own cube, desk, and laptop (even though I can’t use it yet, but that’s another story). It’s definitely a huge jump from the support center. There is a whole lot that I’m going to have to learn, and probably in a short amount of time. I’m going to have to take a refresher course on Cobol and a few other things…joy, it’s like college again (sarcasm, if you couldn’t tell)!! I think I’ll enjoy it, though.
Today Leslie and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary. It’s actually not until the 31st of this month, but we celebrated it early. I had planned out the evening for us, but Leslie had no idea what we were doing. As soon as I got off work, we headed for Newport on the Levee. She still had no idea where we were going. We went to eat at Cafe Istanbul. I had heard nothing but good things for this place. All I have to say is that it met all my expectations. I would definately recommend going there if you have never been. After dinner came the entertainment. I had reserved tickets to Shadowbox Cabaret. Leslie had gone with Lori before, but I had never been. We saw The Best of ShadowBox. It was a lot of fun. Definitely a show for an older audience, but quite hilarious. We had a really good time!!
Well, I found out yesterday that Danny Graves got cut from the Reds roster. Woohoo (sorry James, I know you loved Graves)!! It’s about time. And what do they do their first game without him? How about WIN!! Yes, it was a fun game. Myself, Leslie, and Alex went with Lori and a group from Lakeside Christian Church. Tonight, I’m going with Tim for the Ken Griffey Jr. Bobblehead night. Hopefully they’ll break out a big winning streak now that they got rid of the other teams best player!!
Well, we finally have our house in presentabl shape (except for the garage) so we decided to have some people over tonight. I have no idea how many people will show up, but I’m sure will have a good time. I’ve spent most of my spare time the past few days working in the yard. I had to rake up a bunch of straw and reseed some grass. I ended up getting sunburned the first day…yeah, that wasn’t fun. Well, I better get going. People should be arriving in about an hour, and there are still a couple things left to do.
Sorry I haven’t posted anything in a while. We’ve been really busy unpacking and getting everything organized. I’ve just been so tired I haven’t felt like posting anything. Anyway, later today I’ll be going to play ultimate frisbee and then going to Chris’ house for a cookout. It should be fun. Hopefully I won’t be too tired from work. I’ll try to get more posts up, I promise!!
I think this deserves a seperate post of it’s own. Ya know how I was asking you to pray for me and the interview I had? Well, I found out Friday that I got the job. In three weeks, I’ll be moving to the Kroger building downtown to assume my new role. The lady who made the offer called me on Friday morning, which was our first morning in the house. It was a very exciting day. YAY!!
I want to say a big “thank you” to Chris, Tim, and Lori T. for helping us move. Also to Leslie’s family for helping us move and house sitting while we were moving stuff over. We are officially out of the apartment and in our house. It’s so nice to have a house!! As soon as we get everything unpacked we’ll have some people over. Also, if you want our new phone number or address just check my resume. I changed it on there.
Well, tomorrow (Tuesday) is a big day for me. Not only are we closing on our house, but I have a huge interview as well. The interview is for another position within Kroger. Say a prayer for me!!
