I finally got tired of the weather forecast never working. It seemed that their site was down more than it was up. So I added a little “About Me” section. It’s not much, but it fills the void.
Well, Leslie and I were supposed to go with our realtor and meet with a lady from Celestial Builders today. Were looking into building a new home instead of buying and older one. We got up early this morning, which is a big deal to me because I only have every other weekend off, to go meet the lady and she she never showed up. Our realtor finally called her on her cell phone and left a voice mail for her. A little later she called back apologizing because she thought she was supposed to meet us tomorrow. What’s worse is that she had made other plans and couldn’t come and meet us. Ya know, I’ve forgotten things before too, but you think you would remember the day you were going to meet someone to sell them a home! Especially if your having them meet you at 9:30 on a Saturday morning.
Well, it looks like NKU might finally be getting a new arena. The new arena will seat between 6,000 and 10,000 people. NKU has been trying to get an arena now since 1990, but the state would never back the funding. This would mean that NKU students would no longer have to graduate in Ohio (I didn’t by the way, because I didn’t walk the line). Plus, NKU is looking to go from a Division II school to a Division I school. I think it would be great if it goes through. It’ll be interesting to see where they build it. Also, The Bank of Kentucky bought the naming rights for 20 years for $6 million, so it’ll probably be called The Bank of Kentucky Arena. The total cost for the arena is expected to be $53.5 million.

Well, Leslie and I went out and bought a Nintendo DS today. It’s a pretty cool little device. Not only does it play the new DS games, but it plays all the old Gameboy Advanced games too. The graphics on the new games look great for a handheld gaming system, and the new touch screen is a lot of fun. It’s all we need though. Another gaming system to waist our time (thanks Ben).
Well, Leslie and I finally watched The Phantom of the Opera last night. We went out to eat with her family and Matt, and then went and watched the move. It was a really good movie. I was impressed at how they made you hate the Phantom one minute, and then feel sorry for him the next. I would have enjoyed it a lot more if my sinuses hadn’t been acting up. Of course, the music was great. If you haven’t seen it yet, I’d definitely hurry and get out to a theatre that is still showing it before it’s gone!
The Monty Python group are at it again. This time they are hitting Broadway. A new musical based on the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail will be opening in the near future. It will star David Hyde Pierce, Tim Curry, and Hank Azaria. You have to check this out.
Here’s an interesting article about what a columnist for USA Today said in reference to Answers In Genesis’ new Creation Musuem. The author’s name is Andrew Kantor. In the article, which there is a link for at the bottom of this entry, he stated that the new museum is a national embarrassment. He also said that parents should not take there children to the museum if they want them to grow up to be scientists. Here’s a small bit of what he said:
If we didn’t accept quantum mechanics, we never would have realized how electron orbits worked, or how those electrons give off photons as they ‘drop’ from one energy level to another. So we wouldn’t have lasers. No lasers, no CDs. No DVDs. No laser surgery. No fiber optics. Thomas Edison couldn’t have made a light bulb without understanding oxidation.
What he is completely missing is the fact that being a creationist doesn’t mean you don’t beleive in science. I guess he forgot that some of the greatest scientists in history such as Francis Bacon, Isaac Newton, James Joule, Lewis Pasteur, Lord Kelvin, the Wright brothers, Robert Boyle, James Clerk Maxwell, and the list goes on.., were all creationists.
These anti-creationists know that if people are stopped from being brainwashed into believing that evolution is true and given a chance to weigh both sides, that they will come to the conclusion that evolution is false and really has no true scientific backing. Eugenie Scott, who is a leading atheistic anti-creationist even admitted it:
Check the article out for yourself. It’s a little long, but definitely worth reading through. It was written by Ken Ham and Dr. Jonathon Sarfati, so you know its good.
Well, I’m in a really bad mood today. Why? Well, it’s not just one thing. First, this house searching is getting frustrating. As soon as we find a house we like, it gets sold. Not to mention the whole issue we had with Jane Ashcraft West. They have a house we made an offer on that someone else had already made an offer on. The people selling the house accepted the other offer, and the house is STILL in active status on MLS. They haven’t even changed it over to pending, which they are supposed to do. Then, last night we went to Kroger and had some prescriptions refilled. My “wonderful” rx plan through Kroger stinks. My test strips are non-formulary, so the cost for them is outrageous. We found out last night that my insulin is formulary, so we have to pay 20% of the cost. Have you seen how much insulin costs? 20% isn’t cheap. Then I had to change my insulin pump last night. After inserting the canula and removing the needle, blood rushed up inside of the canula and started coming out the side of it. I called Minimed and they said I had to remove it and re-insert it in another place. Great, so I had to inflict more pain on myself AND waste three-days worth of insulin. It’s been years since I’ve let having diabetes really get to me, but it did last night. I’m not sure why, because I’ve had problems with injecting insulin when I was taking shots and it didn’t bother me then. Oh yeah, did I mention that was after I had finished doing our taxes? Oh well, I’ll stop complaining now.
Well, today is my birthday. Yep, I was born on Valentine’s Day! I’m 24 today! Ya know, I think I know more people who have a birthday on Valentine’s Day than any other day of the year. I work with two other people who’s birthday is today. I went to college with one. I also went to high school with a person who shared the same birthday as me. And no, none of them were the same person. Anywho……Happy Birthday Me!!!
Chris posted a link to an interesting site called findyourspot.com that determines the best places in the US for you to live. I thought it did a good job, because the places it gave for me are places I could see myself living in. They are all close to outdoor recreation, such as lakes or mountains. They were:
