Leslie and I are ready to get out of our apartment. We’ve been looking at houses and we’ve found one we really like. We’re just getting a nice starter home so we can get out of the apartment. We’ve not even lived here two years yet, but were both really tired of it. It’ll be nice to have a house and not just a couple of rooms to live in. We’re also looking forward to getting a dog! Hopefully we’ll be able to get this house at a good price. It would be a nice birthday present!!

I have to say that until Chris mentioned RSS feeds to me, I really didn’t know much about them. I did some research and found out what they were about, and then I modified some script to make an RSS feed for my site. RSS feeds allow people to keep track of blogs using an RSS reader. I use Bloglines to keep track of these feeds. There are many programs out there that you can use to keep track and reduce your time on the internet. What they do is read the script that is produced by the RSS feed. The feed is produced whenever a blog is posted. So, they notify you when a new post has been put up. Most people put either a description or the full blog in their RSS feed. I post my full blog, so you don’t actually have to visit my site to read my new blogs. You would have to visit my site, however, to post on any blog or to read the comment of another person. I thought I would give a description of this as I have noticed a lot of people I know are starting to use Xanga. Xanga automatically converts a blog to an RSS feed. Most people do not know this. To get the RSS feed, all you have to do is change the home.aspx to rss.aspx in the URL . An example is Lori’s site and Lori’s RSS feed. To be able to get the updates, all you have to do is add the RSS feed to the RSS reader that you choose. One thing I like about Bloglines is that it is online. They have a notifier that you can download, but you can check it on any public computer. I hope this gives a little explanation into RSS feeds and syndication. It really does simplify the whole blog experience.

We have all been taught to have manners and say “thank you” when someone does something nice for us. But how do you respond when someone says “thank you” to you? Most of the time I say something like: “No problem”, “Don’t mention it”, or “It was nothing”. I’ve noticed that I find myself saying “your welcome” less and less. Why is this? I have noticed it among other people as well. When I started thinking about it I realized I should be saying “your welcome” a lot more. I’ve been trying to catch myself and keep from saying the other responses. Why? Well, first off it’s more polite. Second, while something I’ve been thanked for might have not been a big deal to me, it might have meant a lot to the person that I did it for. I think that saying, “Oh, it was nothing” can be degrading to the person I say it to. It may have been something that was important or difficult for them, and I just acted like someone who doesn’t care. That may be an extreme, but you never know when that instance will occur. From now on I’m going to try to say “your welcome” whenever I am thanked.

I’ve switched my photo gallery over from i-gallery to JAlbum. It automatically makes thumbnails, so the galleries should load faster. It also is customizable. I’m using one of the default templates right now, but I’ll probably get around to customizing it later. Enjoy!!

Well, after a lot of procrastination I finally have the pictures up from my mission trip to Wales. I went over the summer of 2001 with Joe, Elizabeth, and Kristi. It was one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had. It’s really hard to believe that it has been 3 1/2 years since I was over there. Unfortunately I don’t stay in contact very well with all the friends I made while I was over there. I’l be adding comments to the pictures soon, so that some of them will make sense.

I just came across a commercial for Honda that has to be one of the coolest commercials ever. The commercial apparently took 606 takes to film. The part with the tires doesn’t look real, but they could have weighted the tops of the tires to make them roll uphill. Anyway, it’s still really cool.

[update: The whole thing is completely real and done with nothing but car parts. It was also shot in one take. You can read more about it here.]

I came across this article by Dr. Jonathon Sarfati on Answers in Genesis website. The article is a review of the book Politically Correct Death by Dr. Francis Beckwith. It gives some scriptural references that the unborn child is indeed a child, and that killing it is murder. One particular part of the article really disturbed me. Dr. Sarfati was decribing how when evolution is put in place of the Bible as the authority, that anything goes. Here is a quote from the article:

For an absolutely horrifying example of how low organized humanism can stoop because of their godless framework for ethics, the international Humanist values and ethics convention Australis2000 held in Sydney, Australia, invited Vern Bullough, the Humanist pedophile advocate and an editor of Paidika: The Journal of Paedophilia, as a speaker.

Like I said, it is very disturbing. Check out the article:

I came across this article about a woman who gave birth to a 17-pound baby in Brazil. I thought it was pretty amazing. The mother has diabetes, which can cause babies to be born larger. That’s something I didn’t know!! Not surprisingly, they did a c-section. Take a look at the article. They have a picture of the baby. It’s reportedly the largest baby ever born in Brazil.

I’ve just completed another update to the site. Now when you go to comment on a blog or if you sign my guestbook, there will be a popup window instead of another page. I went through the code and I think I have it working fine. If you notice anything on it, let me know.
