Well, I finally broke down and bought a new monitor. We went from Leslie’s old Gateway CRT monitor to a Samsung SyncMaster 712n LCD monitor. I have to say that I really like it, especially for the price. We found one that was returned, and mising the upc. Because of that we didn’t have to worry about the mail in rebates. It does have one pixel out, but for not having to worry about the rebates I’m not complaining. Plus, you’d be hard pressed to find the pixel unless your looking at a plain white screen. After upping the refresh rate to 75 mhz and setting the resolution to the monitor’s default of 1280×1024, it is really clear and doesn’t shadow too bad when playing games. Hopefully it’ll hold up and I won’t have any problems. But if I do, it has a 3-year manufacturers warranty. I’d definitely recommend it for someone looking into getting an LCD monitor and not wanting to spend $500.
I’m sure that everyone knows by know about the destruction that the earthquake and tsunami caused in Asia. The last death count was up to 44,000 people. It is predicted that as many people could die from diseases caused by the tsunami, as the tsunami itself killed. I can’t imagine what the people are going through in these areas. The destruction is unimaginable to me. As we go about our daily lives, remember to keep these people in your prayers. The survivors have a long road ahead of them to rebuild their lives. If you want to help, you can donate money to the American Red Cross. Just choose to donate to the Disaster Relief Fund.
Well, Christmas is finally here. I hope everyone is able to have a Merry Christmas with there family. I also hope the weather hasn’t kept anyone from their plans. It’s been pretty nasty around here! Just remember the true reason that we celebrate Christmas, and you’ll have a wonderful time no matter where you are!

The AP has sent a cease-and-desist letter to the BCS coordinator demanding they stop using their AP poll to determine the BCS standings. According to the AP, they never gave permission to the BCS group to use their poll in it’s rankings. So why did the AP wait so long to demand their poll stop being used? Well, probably because this year more than any other the BCS totally screwed up. Auburn should be in the championship game above any other team. Sure, there are three teams that are undefeated, but Auburn beat more ranked teams than the other two and played a tougher schedule! The AP has realized that the BCS is making them look bad, and want no part in it. Hopefully, this will be the start of the end of the BCS. Division I college football needs to go to a playoff format. It works for high school, NFL, Division II, and Division III colleges, so why won’t it work for Division I. If it weren’t for sponsorships and the money involved in bowl games, there would already be a playoff format. Maybe they will figure out a way to work it out. One can only hope!
I grew up in the 80′s and early 90′s. The cartoons that were shown during this time, along with the re-runs of the late 70′s, are what I grew up with. Maybe it was just the fact that this was my childhood, but I don’t think there will ever be any cartoons that can match G.I Joe, He-Man, Transformers, or Thundercats! These are classics. I found a webpage that has cartoon themesongs from a particular period of time. If you are an 80′s kid, I definitely recommend checking out this site!!
Well, in case you some how missed it, I changed the color layout on my website. I got tired of seeing gray and black, and thought it was time for a change. I really like the new colors. I hope you do too.
Well, UK gave me quite a scare yesterday against Louisville. At halftime, Louisville had doubled Kentucky’s score. Thanks to Patrick Sparks, and Western Kentucky University for not being able to keep him there!!, UK made a huge comeback to win the game. In the final seconds of the game, UK was down 58-57. Sparks was fouled shooting a three-pointer with .6 seconds left on the clock. Even though it took the refs almost 2 minutes to make the call, Sparks was as cool as the other side of the pillow. He drained all three free-throws, giving UK a 60-58 lead which ended up being the final score of the game. This was UK’s first quality win of the season, so maybe it’ll give them the boost they’ve been needing.
Update: Here’s a link to an ESPN article about the hero of the game, Patrick Sparks! Make sure to note that London, Kentucky (my hometown) was mentioned in an article from ESPN!

Just wanted to say congratulations to Ben and Shannon Harwood. The wedding looked great!! I hope you all have a wonderful life together. Have fun in Florida!
A blog on Chris’ website got me thinking about how people use the ‘seperation of Church and State’ as a reason to keep anything religious out of government. The problem is, there is nothing in the Constitution about a seperation. What it does say in the First Amendment, however, is that legislature shall “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,”. That is protecting religion, not government. It says NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING (for those of you who haven’t seen UHF, I apologize) about keeping anything religious (ie: prayer, The Ten Commandments, In God We Trust) out of government, educational, or public establishments.
The statement, seperation of Church and State, came from a letter that Thomas Jefferson wrote to a Baptist congregation. Jefferson was assuring them that in no way would the state dictate over the church. Also, people want to argue that our country was not founded on Christianity. Why, then, is the Bible referenced and God mentioned everywhere we look in the governments history? All the way from The Pledge of Allegiance to the money that we spend, God is etched in this country’s history! Here is a link that talks about the letter Jefferson sent, and also the history of Christianity in this country.
My apologies to anyone who has tried to sign my guestbook in the past few weeks. In the process of adding code to actively count the number of users currently on my website, I didn’t check to see if it would cause anything not to function properly. It did! The problem is now fixed. So if anyone had come and not been able to sign the guestbook, you can now. I’ll try and be more careful in the future.
